About the Author
Jon Rubin grew up (assuming that he grew up at all) in Deerfield and
Highland Park, Illinois, just north of Chicago. He enjoyed swimming,
football, baseball, pole vaulting and chasing members of the opposite
sex as fun ways to endure his formative years. He was certified as a
SCUBA Diver at the age of 14, and at the age of 16 he was one of, if not
the youngest, individuals at the time to host a commercial radio talk
show.
The show was called “Speak Out,” and aired in Chicago on WEEF AM & FM.
At the age of 21, he earned his pilot’s license, and opened a
restaurant, which he sold several years later when he decided to pursue
a successful career in the computer software industry. Mr. Rubin founded
his second company, a software development and consulting group, in
1987, and went out on his own in 1991.
In 1992, he decided that he never wanted to be on his death bed saying,
“I would of…I could of…I should of,” so he threw his hat into the
political arena and, though unsuccessful, he ran for the state
legislature. Along the way, he created and produced several television
shows, the most recent being “Skating’s Next Star” hosted by Kristi
Yamaguchi, and is currently working on several other productions.
Jon was found for the final time on an Internet Dating site by Marcia.
They were married in 2005, and they live together in bliss and happiness
in South Florida. When asked why they married after only 13 months of
dating, Marcia points out that since they are in their early 50’s, each
year that passes is like a dog year. So in a weird sort of way, they
dated for over 7 years before the wedding. Together, they have four
wonderful adult children.
You can find them at the theater, a restaurant or out at a night club
listening and dancing to the music of the ’60s and ’70s. They can also
be found several times a year on a cruise ship somewhere in the world.
